KOTA: Congress MLA from Sangod (Kota) and ex-minister, Bharat Singh has written a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker against toll recovery on the cable-stayed bridge and Kota-baran National Highway (NH-27).

Bharat Singh in his letter to the speaker, Om Birla, who is also an MP from Kota, has accused Birla of observing silence on the issue, despite him writing letters in the past to stop toll recovery on Kota-baran National Highway and also on Cable stayed bridge on NH27 in Kota.

“You are an MP from Kota and now a Lok Sabha speaker but you have not made any efforts to stop illicit toll recovery on cable stayed bridge on the Chambal river in Kota since 18 March 2018 as toll plaza is being operated on forest land without the permission of forest department”, he said.

“Why don’t you reply”, asks Singh in letter to speaker Birla. Further, he wrote “You are showing dreams of air service to Kota but has never tried to stop toll recovery on damaged road of Kota-baran National highway which came into existence in the year 2009 ”.

“Toll is being recovered from people when people are facing problems travelling along this highway”, wrote Bharat Singh.

“Now the road repair works have started, and four lane traffic is being diverted to 2 lane. We request you to stop toll recovery on this highway...”, he wrote.

Singh has also written to the forest minister of Rajasthan, Sukhram Vishnoi in which he wrote that toll plaza establishment was not proposed at the time when forest department had granted permission for establishment of cable stayed bridge on forest land.

The cable stayed bridge construction completed in the year 2017 and toll recovery started on this bridge from 2018, but such toll recovery is against the provisions and forest department should not accord

NOC to the toll plaza on this bridge, wrote Singh.
