Police seize 11 pistols, 3 revolvers from gang

KOTA: The Jhalawar Police have busted a gang of smugglers involved in traffickin­g illicit firearms through ambulance and have confiscate­d a cache of firearms from them.

The police have recovered 11 pistols, three illicit country made revolvers, four live cartridges, an ambulance and have arrested four accused.

Superinten­dent of police Jhalawar, Ram Murti Joshi told that the special team of Jhalawar police l ead by i t s I ncharge Inspector, Digvijay Singh today caught an ambulance during Nakabandi on Teendhar-mundawar road in Jhalawar district today when the ambulance tried to jump the police check post.

Police arrested criminal Faujmal alias Faujya and recovered six pistols, one country made revolver and two live cartridges from him. Police also arrested Hansraj Kushwaha and confiscate­d three pistols. Police also nabbed ambulance driver Morpal Meena with one pistol.

About the modus operandi of the accused, SP Jhalawar, Ram Murti Joshi told that Faujya is a district level hardcore criminal against whom 16 cases were lodged in Rajasthan and in the neighbouri­ng State of Madhya Pradesh. Faujya met firearms smuggler of Gwalior named Mahesh Bhadoriya when both were locked in jail where Bhadoriya informed Faujya about the source and network of illicit firearms in MP and Rajasthan.

“To smuggle illicit firearms from MP, Faujya took the ambulance of his acquaintan­ce living near Chhabra hospital in Baran district on rent in the pretext of ferrying medicines ”, he said.

The smugglers after buying the illicit firearms were returning to Chhabra via Jhalawar district when they were caught by Jhalawar police.
