JAIPUR: Working in accordance with the fundamental duties in the Constitution, one can give his contribution in the nation’s development, said governor Kalraj Mishra, while addressing a gathering at a programme in Jaipur on Tuesday.

He said the Fundamental Duties mentioned in Article 51-A of the Constitution are the basic thoughts of the Mahatma.

“Mahatma Gandhi h a d unshakeable faith in his Indianness. His vision was that of the world is one family. Gandhiji’s ornament was non-violence,” Mishra said . “Politics without principles, action without morals, life without character and science without humanity are sins,” he said.

The programme was organised to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the birth anniversary of the founder of the Clarks Group of Hotels, Babu Brijpal Das.

Mishra said Das had contributed significantly in social and cultural areas and he remains an inspiration.

Addressing the gathering, Gandhi’s grandson Rajmohan Gandhi said, “Gandhiji was fearless and he was a worshipper of non-violence. He was always ready to be jailed and to face bullets. Gandhiji was not more or less than anyone. He led the freedom struggle and he always worked to spread amity and end hatred.”

The governor will flag off the ‘Jal Yodha Vahini’ from the Raj Bhawan on January 17. The Jal Yodha Vahini will travel to different districts and spread the message of water conservation. The initiative has been undertaken by the Regional Outreach Bureau, Jaipur.
