In drive against organised crime, 562 arrested

JAIPUR: The district special teams (DST) working in coordinati­on with the teams of special operations group (SOG) and anti-terror squad (ATS) in last 15 days arrested 562 people involved in different types of organized crime, said an official release issued by the SOG on Wednesday.

On the instructio­ns of director general of police (DGP) Bhupendra Singh, the DSTS were created across all police districts which are working in coordinati­on with SOG-ATS.

The organised crime includes illicit drug smuggling, arms smuggling, sand mafia, human traffickin­g supply of adulterate­d food, illicit activities on state and national highways. vehicle thefts, fake insurance racket, fake currency, crimes on social media, crime in medical sectors, property mafias, cow and livestock smuggling, encroachme­nt on government land, blackmaili­ng racket, fake candidate’s racket and others.

According to the official release, between December 29, 2019 and January 12, 20202, 35 cases of NDPS were registered and 51 were arrested. From their possession, 3927 kg lanced poppy husk, 79 kg marijuana, 7 kg opium, 10.08 kg Ketamine injections, 21300 tablets, 94 bottles of restricted syrups and 26 vehicles were seized.

Similarly, 76 liquor smugglers were arrested in 38 cases were arrested from whom 7550 cartoons of illicit liquor, 10300 bottles and 1500 litres domestic liquor was also seized in this period of time. In 13 cases of illegal firearms, 30 accused were arrested from whom 21 pistols, 31 cartridges and nine gun magazines were recovered.

In this 15 days, 22 cases of antihuman traffickin­g were registered in which 18 accused were arrested and 131 kids were rescued, five cases of selling adulterate­d products were registered under which six were held and 1500 litres fake ghee was recovered.

Also, 83 people involved in illegal river-sand mining were arrested from whom 83 vehicles were seized, 33 fake doctors and people involved in selling fake medicines. 29 cow smugglers were arrested and 410 cattle were rescued, 24 vehicle theft were arrested from 111 vehicles were recovered and six sitting as fake candidates were also arrested.

The DST teams also arrested 97 gamblers, 42 touts, 19 involved in flesh trade, three hardcore criminals and 19 criminals who had a reward on their heads.
