Kota man gets death for daughter’s rape, murder

KOTA: A local court sentenced a 40-year-old man to death on Tuesday holding him guilty of raping and killing his daughter in 2015.

The girl was four months pregnant when she was found dead.

The special court for Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act cases convicted the man of killing his 17-year-old daughter on May 13, 2015.

Public prosecutor Prem Narayan Namdev said the court also slapped a fine of ₹20,000 on the man after convicting him under sections 302 (murder) and 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code.

Eighteen witnesses recorded their statement in the case, the prosecutor said.

The man, who worked as a security guard at a warehouse, l odged a f i r s t i nformation report (FIR) at the Nayapura police station in Kota on May 13, 2015, that his daughter was found dead in the house when she was alone.

He said his wife, who ran a tea stall outside the warehouse, and son were not at home.

During autopsy, police found that the girl was pregnant and sent the foetus for DNA test, after which they discovered that the man had been raping her for a long time.

Police said the girl had mental illness.

In a different case, a man was sentenced to life in jail until death for raping a 5-year-old girl. The special POCSO court No. 4 pronounced the verdict in a case of 2017, and slapped a fine of ₹60,000 on the man.

Public prosecutor Dhirendra Singh said that the man picked up the girl from the Anantpura area on April 24, 2017, and later raped her in a wheat warehouse. The girl’s father lodged an FIR against the accused in Anantpura police station on April 25, 2017, under the POCSO Act.

Sixteen witnesses recorded their statements during the trial of the case.
