NEW DELHI: A 25-year-old man, wanted under the stringent MCOCA Act and carrying a reward of ~one lakh on his head was arrested from west Delhi’s Moti Nagar, police said on Tuesday.

The accused -- Sahil Dahiya, alias Tarun, is a resident of sector 8 in Rohini and also an active member of Neeraj Bawana and Parvesh Maan gang, they said.

The accused had jumped parole for allegedly murdering a rival gang member and was carrying a reward of ~one lakh after he was booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) case, police said.

On Monday, he was arrested from Moti Nagar, where he had come to meet someone, Manishi Chandra, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) said.

“Acting on a tip off, a team laid a trap at Najafgarh Road in Moti Nagar. The team spotted a person coming from the Rajouri Garden side who was identified as Sahil and was apprehended,” he said.

During interrogation, he disclosed that in 2017, he came in contact with Parvesh Mann through one of his friend. He was influenced by Mann’s lavish lifestyle and joined hands with him in his criminal activities, he added.

In July 2018, he along with Maan and others had eliminated a person named Babloo Khera, which had intensified the ongoing rivalry between Gogi and Tillu gang.

He was arrested in that case and was presently out on parole, the DCP said. However, after a case of MCOCA was registered against him, he went underground to regroup and strengthen Mann’s gang, he said
