Laden is involved in around two-dozen heinous crimes including the murder of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Jasram Gurjar, the police said.

Gurjar, the BSP candidate from Behror constituency in the 2018 state assembly elections, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in July last year.

Inspector general of police (IGP), Jaipur range, S Sengathir said that a reward of ₹25,000 was declared on his head by the police. Twenty-two criminal cases including attempts to murder and kidnapping are registered against him in Bhiwadi and Alwar.

“On July 29, Gurjar was shot near a temple in Jainpurbas village in Behror. Laden provided arms to the assailants. He went absconding after that. In order to catch him, a special team was formed. On November 30, a dairy plant owner from Behror was attacked and vehicles were torched by nine to ten men of Laden. The entire incident was captured in CCTV of the plant. Property worth ₹56 lakhs was damaged. The motive of the arson was to create a fear of Laden among the proprietor and extort money,” said Sengathir.

Seeing the rise in crime by Laden and his aides, a special team was formed to nab him. The team started gathering inputs on location of Laden.

The special team camped in Delhi, Jaipur rural, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh to trace him. Three days back, a tip-off was received that he is hiding in a sensitive area of Hyderabad. Acting on the tip-off, a team was rushed to Hyderabad from where he was arrested.

The Jaipur range IGP informed that Laden operated his extortion network via Whatsapp. “Laden would threaten businessmen to extort money from them. He used different phone numbers and through Whatsapp calling he threatened people. Laden bought firearms from other states and would upload pictures with them to instil fear among people,” Sengathir said.

The criminal would accept friend request of youngsters who were attracted by him. “Laden would used the youngsters to extort money from businessmen,” the IGP added.
