Man gets death sentence for woman’s murder

KOTA: A court in Kota has handed capital punishment to a man for the murder of a woman in Kota nine months ago.

The man has murdered four women so far.

Giving order in the murder case of a woman whose naked body was found packed in a sack in Vigyan Nagar locality of Kota on May 24 , 2019, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) court on Friday handed capital punishment accused Mohan Singh alias Mahaveer Singh (50) and a fine of ₹20000. Rape charges could not be proved against the accused under section 376 of IPC.

Public prosecutor Suresh Verma said 54 evidence were recorded in the case.

After f ai l i ng t o r ape t he woman due to her resistence, Mohan used a knife to tore apart her stomach and intenstine and put her clothes in the stomach before stitching the split stomach with metal wire. Kota police had arrested Mohan with the knife from Kunhadi area on June 10, 2019.

POCSO court judge Kailash Chand Mishra in a 133-page order said that the accused has become a psycho killer for the women; he does heinous act with the bodies of the women after accomplish­ing his sexual desire.

“Accused has committed murder of 3 more women in the past and also escaped jail while serving life imprisonme­nt in a murder case and later committed this heinous murder, so there is no possibilit­y of his improvemen­t,” the judge said.

“This criminal has become so dangerous that his existence in the society cannot be acceptable to the society”, said the order.

Mohan had committed a double murder of a mother and daughter in Udhyog Nagar locality of Kota in 1997, in which he damaged their bodies using a wine bottle.
