Four teachers booked, suspended for misbehavin­g with girl students

JAIPUR: Four teachers of a government school in Sri Ganganagar district were booked on charges of misbehavin­g with girl students, police said on Saturday.

Education minister Govind Singh Dotasara said the four teachers have been suspended and the school principal was put on awaited posting order as he did not take action even after receiving a complaint.

The alleged misbehavio­ur by the teachers of the higher secondary government school at 22 PTD village had surfaced a week back. The incident heated up after t he girls of t he school recorded the incident in phones through the help of villagers; the teachers are seen misbehavin­g with the girls.

On Friday, the parents and villagers staged a protest at the school as no action was taken against the teachers. Station house officer (SHO) of Sameja Kothi police station Chandrajee­t Singh said the accused teachers booked have been identified as English teacher Bahad Ram, science teacher Gajanand, physical education teacher Paramanand, and Indraj.

“These teachers have been b o o k e d under s e c t i o n 3 5 4 (assaulting woman to outrage her modesty) of Indian Penal Code after a complaint was given by the villagers. No particular victim or complainan­t have come forward to lodge a case. Our investigat­ion is on and we will add more section if they are found true in our investigat­ion,” said Singh.

“The teachers of higher secondary school of 22 PTD village in Srigan Ganagar were suspended with immediate effect on charges of misbehavin­g with the girl students. The officers have been instructed to submit a report aft er conducting an inquiry in 15 days,” Dotasara tweeted.

One of the parents of a student who di dn’t want t o be named said, “These teachers would touch the girls and would do things which we can’t even describe.”

Another parent said, “When we came to know that the teachers were misbehavin­g with the girls, the villagers decided to s t age a protest against t he schoolteac­hers. Students are like kids to teachers but these type of people are blot in the profession of education and they should be jailed for what they have done,” .

In December last year, 12 Sainik School boy students were sexually assaulted in Jhunjhunu by a 35-year-old teacher.
