Condition of Italian couple improving: Health minister

JAIPUR: Health minister Raghu Sharma on Friday said the condition of the Italian couple who have contracted coronavirus is improving and added that the health department has managed the situation arising out of the global epidemic competently.
Talking to reporters in the assembly premises, Sharma said, “There are only two positive coronavirus cases in the state and their parameters are also normal, they are eating… one of them is being given slight oxygen support while the other has been taken off oxygen support.”
He praised the health department saying, “The department is doing good work to manage coronavirus in the state… even the Centre has praised us… we are glad that all tourists in Rajasthan are being allowed to visit tourist spots after checking their oxygen levels.”
He also commended the health staff saying they are working courageously and also assuring people not to get scared.
Meanwhile, union health minister Harsh Vardhan held a video conferencing with all state health department officials, Rohit Kumar Singh, additional chief secretary, health, said.

He said a rapid relief team has been set-up and control rooms have been set-up at all district headquarters. Over 20,000 masks have been s e nt t o t he di s - tricts. Private hospitals too have been asked to stay on alert.
Singh said department officials have had several meetings with the chief minister, health minister and chief secretary.the health minister too had spoken at length about coronavirus at the assembly.
He said daily video conferences are being held with district collectors, CMHOS and PMOS and reports are being taken from them. He said awareness campaigns are being done through the media including, electronic, print radio and social media. He said 310 people who came in contact with the Italian couple during their week-long sojourn at seven places in Rajasthan have been indentified and screened. Of these, 267 samples have been sent for testing and only 2 have been found positive.
Dr Harsh Vardhan said all sections of the society have to be alerted about coronavirus and the measures needed to prevent it. He praised all states for the measures taken by them in spreading the infection. He said states which share international borders should carry out intensive screening of passengers arriving at their airports.
