JAIPUR: The body of a Class 8 student, who went missing in Jaipur on Friday, was found, police said on Saturday.

The boy, Nakul Sankhla, 13, was apparently strangled to death, they said, adding that the victim’s brother-in-law, a suspect in the case, was being questioned.

According to the police, the police control room received information at 7.30am that a body was found near bushed in Vigyan Nagar near Malpura Gate falling under the Sanganer police station area.

A police team, along with forensic science laboratory officials and dog squad, rushed to the spot and recovered the body.

“The father of the kid (victim) is a painter. He lived in Kushi Vihar colony, 8 km away from where the body was recovered,” said Manoj Choudhary, additional deputy commissioner of police (addl DCP).

Choudhary said Sankhla had left his house around 2pm on Friday saying that he was going to a friend’s house. “The boy didn’t return home till 8pm, after which the family members lodged a missing report after enquiring at his friend’s home and nearby areas,” he added.

Meanwhile, police has ruled out possibility of any sexual assault with the minor. Station house officer (SHO) of Sanganer police station, Nemi Chand said that prima facie, it appears that the boy was strangulated with hands and no attempt of sexual assault has been observed.

“When family members of the deceased enquired from Nitin’s friend he told them that Nitin had gone with his brother-inlaw, Mahendra alias Sonu, on Friday evening in a white car. We are questioning Sonu. So far, he has told us that he had picked Nitin from his friend’s home, but later dropped him at his home and has no idea what happened after that,” the SHO said.

He added that the police have detained Sonu and are quizzing him. The statements of Nitin’s family members have been recorded, Chand said, adding that they are also trying to obtain CCTV footages from nearby areas to trace the accused.
