SP revokes order to not file FIRS in petty offences

THE JHUNJHUNU SP JAGDISH CHANDRA SHARMA IN HIS ORDERS HAD DIRECTED THE SHOS OFFICERS NOT TO REGISTER FIR IN PETTY OFFENCES BETWEEN MARCH 17 AND APRIL 15

JAIPUR: Jhunjhunu district superinten­dent of police (SP) rolled back orders on Wednesday issued to station house officers (SHOS) to not register FIRS in petty offences within 24 hours.

The Jhunjhunu SP Jagdish Chandra Sharma in his orders had said that to stop the probabilit­y of people been infected with the coronaviru­s, the SHOS are been directed not to register FIR in petty offences between March 17 and April 15. Warrants to be executed only in very important condition and gathering of unnecessar­y crowd should not be allowed at the police stations.

Additional director general of the police (ADGP), crime, Bhagwan Lal Soni said that the orders have been taken back. “We are public servants and it’s our duty to register the FIR. It is priority of the government to register FIR. However, we are requesting the people to do not with crowd to police station to lodge an complaint,” the officer told.

Meanwhile, Congress MLA and former director general f police (DGP) Harish Meena questioned this order and said that this was illegal. He tweeted, “Which model of policing is this.

Government must respect people’s mandate and be sympatheti­c to their aspiration­s.”

Meanwhile, DGP Bhupendra Singh has issued an advisory on Wednesday to the police personnel to take precaution­s regarding corona virus. In the advisory, he told that the police department has important duties. In view of the outbreak of coronaviru­s disease (Covid-19) in the country and region, it is also our duty to keep our family safe while doing our duty c onsciously and carefully.

The state police chief has directed to curb the use of breath analyser, meetings should be done through video conferenci­ng. As far as possible, correspond­ence should be done by e-mail only. Police personnel posted at GRP, traffic and hospital posts should be extra vigilant.
