Workers in all 1,078 party mandals (zones) in the state are engaged in providing relief work and 2.6 lakh food packets are being distributed daily

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan BJP has distributed 28.62 lakh food packets to needy people since the lockdown began, state BJP president Satish Poonia said on Wednesday.

Poonia gave the information to BJP national president JP Nadda, who was reviewing the relief works done by the party workers in Rajasthan.

Poonia said, “Workers in all 1,078 party mandals in the state are engaged in providing relief work and 2.6 lakh food packets are being distributed daily.”

Nadda expressed satisfaction at the work being done in Rajathan and appreciated the works being done by party functionaries.

Meanwhile, BJP leaders have alleged discrimination in the distribution of relief material by the state goverment.

Poonia said the administration had only sought list of beneficiaries from the Congress MLAS for ration distribution in Jaipur. He said the BJP gave a memo to governor Kalraj Mishra through e-mail in this regard on Wednesday.

Jaipur MP Ramcharan Bohra, MLAS Kalicharan Saraf, Narpat Singh Rajvi, Ashok Lahoty, former minister Arun Chaturvedi and former MLAS Ashok Parnami and Kailash Verma met Jaipur collector Dr Jogaram on

Tuesday and said there is discrimination in distribution of relief material and it is being distributed only in areas recommended by Congress leaders and workers and to people affiliated with them.

The leaders said even two weeks after the lockdown, ration has not reached a majority of the needy people. Chaturvedi also said that Congress had removed the column of Tablighi Jamaat attendees infected with coronavirus from the statewide list of positive cases.

Lahoty said, “Ration is not available even in ration shops. The centre has given crores of rupees in financial help and MLAS too have given money from their MLA LAD fund to the state government but ration has not reached the slums and Dalit bastis.”

He added, “This is not the time for politics, but the way the

SATISH POONIA , state BJP president administration is giving ration to Congress workers and not to the poor and needy, it is shameful. They are not serving humanity but Congressmen.”

The BJP leaders said large social service organisations such as Radhasoami Satsang, Isckon, Akshaypatra, Amrapura, Gurudwaras are giving 2 lakh food packets daily to the local administration, but the administration gives it to Congress workers.

“At a time of crisis when all political parties are standing with the government, the administration is working at behest of Congress leaders, which is condemnable,” said Lahoty.

Congress spokesperson Archana Sharma refuted the BJP’S allegations. “The government is working efficiently to provide relief to all people and the BJP’S allegations are baseless,” she said.
