Collector Anandhi said the municipal corporation area of Udaipur has been declared a containment zone and all offices and establishments have been shut down. “No one will be able to move out between 7 am and 7 pm without a pass. Relaxations that were given under the modified lockdown have been taken back.”
She said that curfew has been imposed in 10 police station areas in the city. Containment zones have been made in 1 km and 3 km radius of the area where the home guard constable and his family live, and movement of people has been stopped.
JAIPUR: Rajasthan reported 76 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, taking the total to 3,655, according to the health department.
No death was reported till 2 pm and the total death tally in the state stands at 103. Udaipur which has emerged as a new epicentre for the coronavirus, reported 23 cases.
Rohit Kumar Singh, additional chief secretary, health, said Jaipur reported 20 cases, Jodhpur six cases, Ajmer 13 cases, Jalore three and Pali four cases. Kota, Dausa and Barmer reported one case each and Rajsamand reported two cases.
Churu which had become free of the coronavirus reported two new cases on Saturday.
On Friday, a guard who was posted at the main gate of the SMS medical college in Jaipur died.
The ex-serviceman, Hari Singh (65), was posted at the main gate which leads to the girls’ hostel.
He fell unconscious while on duty on Friday afternoon and died. His sample tested positive for the Sars-cov 2 virus.
An eight-day-old infant who is admitted in the Mahila Chikitsalaya was also found corona positive. His sample was taken as his mother is corona positive.
A doctor couple and a resident at SMS hospital have tested positive. A civil defence member who was part of a sanitisation team of the municipal corporation has also tested positive, Singh said.
