According to police, Maqbool Ali Sathar of Maduravoyal had an argument with his wife last week, following which he poured petrol on his spouse and two children, aged 21 and 14, and set them on fire before fleeing the place.

All three persons were admitted to a hospital where the accused person’s wife and son died, police said.

“Extremely productive meeting between Delhi government and Central government. Many key decisions taken. We will fight corona together,” the chief minister wrote on Twitter.

A key decision taken in the meeting on Sunday was formation of a committee under the chairmanship of VK Paul, member of Niti Aayog, which will give its report on Monday on ensuring reservation of 60% beds for coronavirus patients in private hospitals at low rates in Delhi and to fix treatment and testing costs for Covid-19 in the Capital.

There have been several complaints in the last few weeks about private hospitals charging exorbitant amounts from Covid-19 patients.

Another committee of senior doctors, which will telephonically guide smaller hospitals in Delhi on treatment guidelines and sharing accurate information on Covid-19, has also been formed in AIIMS so that the best practices in the fight against Covid-19 are communicated to the lowest level, Shah said.

A helpline number for this telephonic guidance will be set up by Monday.

He added that for contacttracing in Delhi, a comprehensive door-to-door survey will be conducted in all containment zones for which a report will be submitted by the team within a week.

“Subsequently, for efficient monitoring, every individual will be asked to download the Aarogya Setu app,” Shah added.

Shah also said that the Centre has promised to provide to the Delhi government necessary resources such as oxygen cylinders, ventilators, pulse oximeters and other requirements to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

Four senior I AS offi cers posted at the Centre -- two from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and two from Arunachal Pradesh – have also been immedi at e l y t r ansferred to t he national capital to aide the Delhi government’s fight against the pandemic.

Shah also directed attachment of two other senior IAS officers – SCL Das and S S Yadav from the Centre to Delhi.

The 500 converted railway coaches having 8,000 beds provided with “immediate effect” to the Delhi government will have all the facilities.

The home minister al s o announced that the Centre will issue detailed fresh guidelines on last rites for Covid-19 victims, which will reduce the waiting time for the cremations.

The Union health ministry, Delhi government and all concerned departments have been asked to ensure that decisions taken on Sunday are implemented at the ground level.
