Govt panels to ensure health institutio­ns follow Covid norms

The committees have been asked to inspect hospitals in next seven days and submit a report about compliance of SC directives related to Covid hospitals. After the first inspection, the committees will do the inspection­s every 15 days

JAIPUR: In compliance with the Supreme Court or der, t he health department of Rajasthan on Sunday announced divisional and district level committees, which will ensure that all medical institutio­ns, government or private, f oll ow t he guidelines related to coronaviru­s diseasqe (Covid-19).

Principal secretary of health department Akhil Arora said there are two committees at the divisional level and one at every district to ensure that treatment protocol is being followed, dead bodies are being handled with dignity, CCTV cameras and help desk for stress management.

“The committees have been asked to inspect hospitals in next seven days and submit a report about compliance of SC directives related to Covid hospitals. After the first inspection, t he committees will do t he inspection­s every 15 days,” Arora said.

The divisional committee will comprise a representa­tive of district collector not below t he r a nk o f a n ADM, j o i nt director of health department, senior physician, senior microbiolo­gist, senior chest physician, senior paediatric­ian and

senior PSM expert of medical college, and deputy chief medical and health officer.

The second committee at divisional level, called technical committee, will have all these members minus the representa­tive of the district collector. This committee will do technical evaluation of Covid-19 cases, issue necessary instructio­ns and refer patients to higher centres.

The committee at district level will comprise a representa­tive of district collector not below the rank of an ADM, senior physician, senior chest physician, senior paediatric­ian and senior anaesthesi­ologist from district hospital, and deputy chief medical and health officer.

The district committee will inspect government and private hospitals when the district collector’s representa­tive and at least two members are present. For inspection by divisional level committee, presence of district collector’s representa­tive, joint director of health department and at least two members is must.

The committees will do regular monitoring of isolation beds and put the numbers in public domain, said the order. They will ensure availabili t y of equipment, medicines and basic amenities in Covid-19 care centres and hospitals. They will also ensure that private hospitals are offering tests and treatment at rates fixed by the state government.

If there are shortcomin­gs at government or private dedicated hospitals related to treatment, testing, amenities, equipment or medicines, the committee will inform the hospital in writing and also send a report to the health directorat­e in Jaipur.

The joint director has been directed to send inspection report every 15 days after the first inspection to the health director in Jaipur.
