Guard crushed to death near Sariska
THE HOME GUARD WAS RUSHED TO DAUSA DISTRICT HOSPITAL WHERE HE WAS DECLARED DEAD ON ARRIVAL
ALWAR: An employee of the Border Home Guards (BHG) was crushed to death by a tractor laden with illegally-mined s t ones near Sariska Tiger Reserve on Sunday morning, police said.
The home guard was rushed to Dausa district hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Police and forest security teams are conducting searches for the accused who fled after the incident. The tractor was seized.
SR Yadav, deputy conservator of forest, Sariska Tiger Reserve, said Kewal Singh, the deceased, was on patrol with a fellow jawan at the nearby Baldevpura village when they spotted tractors leaving the Kemla forest area.
As two tractors drove off and they tried to stop the third, the man behind the wheels ran over the jawan, police said.
The STR administration sent word of the incident to the district collector of Anandi and SP Tejaswini Gautam. “Additional
SP Shivlal Bairwa led a police team to the spot. However, by that time the driver had abandoned the tractor and fled. We seized the vehicle and raids are on in nearby village to catch the culprits,” the SP said, adding that an FIR had been filed at Tehla police station.
“Efforts are on to track down the other two tractors that drove off,” the SP said.
Forest Minister Sukhram Bishnoi said the personnel sacrificed his life to keep the forest safe.
“We are with his family in this hour of grief. The government will provide compensation to his kin.” He also promised stern action against the culprits.
