Raj gets awards for water management
The innovations have brought transparency in water management and ensured timely information to each stakeholder.
JAIPUR: The union ministry of Jal Shakti awarded Rajasthan ‘Water Innovation Awards’ in two categories for adoption of new-age technologies in the management of water resources at a virtual award ceremony on Friday.
The water resources department of t he st ate has been awarded for best technology innovation for effective distribution of water, and Indira Gandhi Canal awarded in the best water resources board category.
Naveen Mahajan, secretary of water resources, Indira Gandhi Canal, agriculture command area development and water utility, received the award virtually during the Elets National Water Innovation Summit, 2020.
Twenty-five government departments/ corporates/ institutions were given these awards by Jal Shakti secretary UP Singh. The awards are for pioneering initiatives in the field of water conservation, management, new technology development and creating a water resilient world.

“The
i nnovations have brought transparency in water management, ensured timely information to each stakeholder and made monitoring and regulation of IGNP system more effective,” he said. The changes, he said, have facilitated timely sharing of water demand, judiciously, equitably and efficiently among the stake holders up to the tail end. “There’s been significant improvement in the water use efficiency leading to increase in command area and crop productivity within canal network system. It has also helped in resolving internal disputes among cultivators,” Mahajan said.
