Govt nod to ₹28 cr industrial projects
THE THRUST WILL BE ON JOB CREATION, SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND ECONOMIC EXPANSION BY ATTRACTING NEW INVESTMENT AND NURTURING EXISTING INDUSTRIES
JAMMU: The Centre has approved a new industrial development plan for Jammu and Kashmir, in a major push to the economy of the Union territory and to open up employment opportunities to its people.
Lieutenant governor (L-G) Manoj Sinha outlined the plan, which will have an outlay of ₹28,400 crore until 2037, at a press conference.
The scheme envisages manufacturingand services-led development of J&K with the thrust being on job creation, skill development and economic expansion by attracting new investment and nurturing existing industries.
The L-G thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving the plan. “The new industrial development scheme for J&K will give a boost to domestic manufacturing in the region and help J&K in becoming Aatmanirbhar (self-reliant),” he said. .
Sinha said the scheme will be implemented in a businessfriendly and hassle-free manner . Entrepreneurs from both within Jammu and Kashmir and outside will be offered a “smooth and progressive ecosystem” for their businesses, he added. “With our transparent policies, investments in developing infrastructure, marketoriented policy environment and skilled human capital, we aspire to become a growth pillar for India in the current decade,” Sinha said, adding that the state administration will work closely with industry in rolling out the plan.”
