Govt nod to ₹28 cr industrial projects

JAMMU: The Centre has approved a new industrial developmen­t plan for Jammu and Kashmir, in a major push to the economy of the Union territory and to open up employment opportunit­ies to its people.

Lieutenant governor (L-G) Manoj Sinha outlined the plan, which will have an outlay of ₹28,400 crore until 2037, at a press conference.

The scheme envisages manufactur­ingand services-led developmen­t of J&K with the thrust being on job creation, skill developmen­t and economic expansion by attracting new investment and nurturing existing industries.

The L-G thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving the plan. “The new industrial developmen­t scheme for J&K will give a boost to domestic manufactur­ing in the region and help J&K in becoming Aatmanirbh­ar (self-reliant),” he said. .

Sinha said the scheme will be implemente­d in a businessfr­iendly and hassle-free manner . Entreprene­urs from both within Jammu and Kashmir and outside will be offered a “smooth and progressiv­e ecosystem” for their businesses, he added. “With our transparen­t policies, investment­s in developing infrastruc­ture, marketorie­nted policy environmen­t and skilled human capital, we aspire to become a growth pillar for India in the current decade,” Sinha said, adding that the state administra­tion will work closely with industry in rolling out the plan.”
