CM GEHLOT TO LAUNCH HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME TODAY

JAIPUR: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot will launch the health insurance scheme, Ayushman Bharat Mahatma Gandhi Rajasthan Swasthya Bima Yojna (AB-MGRSBY), on Saturday.

The scheme will benefit over 10 million families and the state government will be bear ₹1400 crore annually. The beneficiar­y will be given an insurance cover of ₹5 lakh. “We started free medicine and test scheme, which has set an example for the country. With same commitment, we started Nirogi Rajasthan campaign in December 2019. In last 10 months, the state did well in Covid management and now we will make Rajasthan a model state in vaccinatio­n,” said Gehlot.

“AB-MGRSBY will be rolled out from January 30. This initiative will prove to be a milestone in protecting health of the population.”

The CM said the new insurance scheme will have the 9.8 million beneficiar­ies of NFSA and eligible families under socio-economic census -2011, other than those under the previous Bhamashah Swasthya Bima Yojana (BSBY).

He said that the state government will bear 80% of the annual premium of this scheme. Gehlot said the annual free treatment limit has been extended to ₹5 lakh from ₹3.30 lakh. Free treatment of ₹50,000 will be available for general diseases and ₹4.50 lakh for serious diseases. Other than government hospitals, affiliated private hospitals and those of GOI will be providing free treatment.

“The expenses five days prior to admitting in the hospital and that after 15 days of discharge will also be covered under the package,” he said.

The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna integrated with Rajasthan Government­s existing health scheme - Bhamashah Swasthya Bima Yojana (BSBY), will now be named as ‘Ayushman Bharat – Mahatma Gandhi Rajasthan Swasthya Bima Yojna.’
