BARMER: Border Security Force (BSF) has agreed to support the idea of border tourism at Munabao along the Indo-pak border in Barmer, said Gyandendra Singh Malik, inspector general of BSF’S Gujarat frontier.

Malik, while speaking at a function organised under BSF’S civic action programme at Gadara Road village recently, said if the Rajasthan government takes initiative to develop Munabao on the lines of Wagah border, BSF will definitely support the idea.

He said that like Munabao, there is a similar border post in Gujarat named ‘Narbet’. He said that Gujarat government is developing this post on the lines of Wagah border under its ‘Seema Darshan Programme’.

Vishram Meena, district collector, Barmer, said, “Many local organisations have been demanding to develop Munabao on the lines of Wagah border.” He said that they have not received any formal proposal, due to which the plan is at an informal stage till now. He further said that if BSF is ready to support this idea they could work out on this plan and soon a proposal could be floated.

BSF has launched a ‘civic action programme’ to develop maximum coordination with the people of the border areas to prevent the anti-national activities across the border.

Under this programme, BSF is organising medical camps in the bordering villages and providing educational and sports material to the schools.

Hindu Singh Tamlor, village sarpanch, said that it is a longlasting demand to develop
