TFormer cricketer he voice behind superhit tracks such as Chashni (Bharat; 2019) and Aap Se Milkar Acha Laga (Andhadhun; 2018), Abhijeet Srivastava is happy with the current state of indie music in the country. “I think this is the best time for independent music scene in India. I listen to new indie artists and music every single day and with digital streaming platforms and social media helping their music reach the right audiences, I think we will soon see top artistes also doing independent music. The indie wave has just started to take off and big Bollywood composers like Amit Trivedi and Arijit Singh have already started releasing independent stuff,” he says.

Srivastava adds while 2020 was not easy for anyone, he tried to be as productive as he could. “I kept making music so that when the time is right I can play it for my audience. Things are way better now, I hope everything will go back to normal soon. My plan for 2021 is to make more music, release them and play that music live for listeners,” he says.

On the topic of nepotism, as a new artiste, Srivastava feels that by now, everyone knows this exists everywhere. “I won’t say something is wrong or right. I feel if you are talented and self aware, you will surely get that opportunity and you have to nail it then. If someone gets an opportunity through favouritism and doesn’t do justice with it, it’s not going to work out,” he believes. He adds that he considers his struggling period to be a learning process. “I was fortunate to meet the right people at the right time. The struggle is just to do better than what I did yesterday,” he signs off.

?? ?? At the Indian Premier League 2021 Auction on Thursday, Kolkata Knight Riders’ co-owner Shah Rukh Khan was MIA, but his dashing son Aryan Khan, who made his first appearance at the auction table, compensated for SRK’S absence. Also present was Jahnavi Mehta, daughter of co-owner Juhi Chawla and Jay Mehta. Cutting a striking figure was Kings XI Punjab co-owner Preity Zinta, in a sparkly mask and white blazer. The spirited actor turned to the KKR bidding table, where Aryan sat, put her arms up in the air and said, “We got Shah Rukh”.
