JAIPUR: A 21-year-old man was arrested on Saturday morning for allegedly raping a five-yearold girl in Jhunjhunu district, police said.

The girl was allegedly abducted while she was playing outside her home with her cousins on Friday evening and then raped, police said.

According to Jhunjhunu police, they got information around 6.15 pm on Friday that the minor girl was missing.

“The accused stopped his scooter around 5.15 pm outside the girl’s home pretending that it is not getting started. The accused told the kids playing to bring a key from their house so that he can start the scooter. The other kids went inside their home and the victim was alone after which she was abducted,” said a police official from Jhunjhunu.

The official added that when the kids came back, they saw the minor missing after which they informed their family members who started searching for her. The parents of the girl informed the local police. An hour later, the police and the family members found the girl 27 kilometres away from her home.

“The minor’s clothes were stained in blood which indicates that she was raped. Further, she was taken to a local primary health care centre from where she was referred to a government hospital in Jaipur,” the police official said.

A team of 60 policemen, including SP Manish Tripathi, four deputy superintendents of police and seven station house officers, launched a hunt to nab the accused.

“CCTV footage of the nearby areas were scanned and manual intelligence was gathered to trace the accused. Later, the 21-year-old accused was arrested from his home in Shahpur area,” said the police official.

He added that the condition of the girl is stable.
