CM reiterates demand of free vaccine for all
JAIPUR: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot reiterated his demand of free vaccination for all on Saturday.
In series of tweets, the CM said, “Starting from today, the people over the age of 18 years are being vaccinated. I urge PM Narendra Modi to make free vaccine available to everyone, including this age group, so that maximum people can get inoculated as soon as possible.”
He said in our country from childhood to being adult, 12 vaccines, such as BCG, Polio (IPV and OPV), Hepatitis B, Rotavirus, measles, Rubella, Japanese fever, DPT, Tetanus, Pneumococcal vaccine are given free of cost. The result of this is that more and more children are safe from these diseases.
“A country such as America has also provided free vaccines to all, including the rich, which ensures the success of the vaccination campaign. I urge the PM to announce the free Covid vaccination in India so that everyone can get vaccinated,” the chief minister tweeted.
In another tweet, Gehlot has also appealed to people to postpone marriages.
He said to overcome this pandemic it is necessary to break the chain of Covid infection which will not be possible from the crowd coming to the wedding.
Earlier, on April 22, the CM had demanded free vaccination for all. He welcoming the GOI decision to vaccinate people above 18 years, and had stated that there will be resentment among the youth if there is no free vaccine.
Rajasthan government on April 25 had announced free vaccination to people above 18 years by spending an amount of ₹3000 crore.
There are about 3.75 crore persons in the age group of 18 to 45 years in the state and for this, 7 crore vaccine doses will be required. The state has placed order of 3.75 crore vaccines to Serum Institute of India.
Till date, over 1.29 crore people in Rajasthan has been inoculated with a first and second dose of the Covid vaccine.
