IN BHARATPUR, 612 MINORS TEST COVID POSITIVE IN LAST 22 DAYS

BHARATPUR/ JAIPUR: A total of 612 children under 18 years of age have tested positive for Covid-19 during last 22 days, according to the official data.

They were kept in home quarantine and medicines were delivered to their doorsteps, officials said.

Chief medical and health officer (CMHO) of Bharatpur, Dr Kaptan Singh said that as of now, none of he young patient’s condition warrants hospitalis­ation. “But to deal with any immediate influx, all community health centres (CHCS) and primary health centres (PHCS) in Bharatpur have been equipped with a regular supply of oxygen beds, medicine and staff,” he said.

A special ward has been earmarked for children in Raj Bahadur Memorial hospital for young patients. Paediatric doctors were roped in to provide timely treatment to children suffering from the illness.

The local administra­tion said it had marshalled all resources from oxygen to medicines for children who may need hospitalis­ation.

In Bharatpur, after an initial lull, the Covid-19 has intensifie­d once again. As many as 78 deaths were reported in the last 22 days due to the illness.

As per a government figure, a total of 15,201 children under the age of 14 years were infected between March and December last year. However, 13,119 children have already been infected this year since January.

Health experts in the state have warned that children were equally susceptibl­e to the new strain of Covid-19.

Parents were asked to assign similar diligence in hand sanitisati­on and face masks to their children.
