KOTA: Keeping in view the Covid-19 situation, the state government has prepared an educational project for the children with special needs (CWSN) of class 1 to 12 in Rajasthan, under which they will be taught at their homes through digitised sign message videos and audio content.

Chief minister Ashok Gehlot will launch the project, named CWSN Project, later this month, said officials of the education department, which has developed the plan.

“The project will benefit nearly 100,000 to 150,000 CWSN students in the state and nearly 900,000 CWSN students in the country, as we will also be sending our project to the Union government for usage,” said Saurabh Swami, director, School Education, Rajasthan.

Swami said the education department has recently signed two memorandums of understanding (Mous) for imparting online education to the CWSN at their homes. The first MOU has been signed with Mission Gyan and Padam Interiors Pri“earlier, vate Ltd for developing video content for the CWSN of classes 3 to 8 in English language. “Similarly, the education department also has signed another MOU with Mission Gyan for developing videos in sign languages for the CWSN students, which will be first of its kind project in the country,” claimed Swami.

Elaborating on the project, Swami said there are five components of the project, which includes identification and enrolment of the CWSN students in the state, for which a drive will be started. “Digital educational content creation for the CWSN will be second component of the project, in which audio and sign language education content will be prepared,” he said. “We have already started making such audios and sign language content videos for the CWSN students,” he added.

‘Aao Ghar Pe Seekhe’ project was launched in the state, under which school teachers used to collect worksheets of students from their homes, but such project could not prove suitable for the CWSN students, who could not read through ordinary worksheets. Hence, worksheets in Braille language has been developed for them now,” Swami said.

He said, “We have also developed an app for extending online educational benefit to the CWSN students.” Quizzes and course material in Hindi will be sent on the Whatsapp group on mobile phones of the CWSN, for which training of the parents and teachers will be done. The course will be uploaded on the mobile app and also students will also be able to access the course through Youtube live and pen, he said.

The department is also preparing course of class 3 to 8 in English medium, which comprises NCERT syllabus for the normal students. “Hence, it will be beneficial for the students of class 3 to 8 in the country,” he said.
