Covid warriors: Patient smile is their reward
Humble, soft spoken and disciplined, Kuldeep Sharma is attached to the North Central Railways (NCR) health unit located at Subedarganj in Sangam city.
The 31-year-old hospital assistant is a multi-tasker— a skill he was forced to pick up and hone during the pandemic.at the peak of the second wave Sharma attended to Covid-19 cases at the quarantine centre set up by NCR at Indian Railways Track Machines Training Centre, Prayagraj.
Here he assisted doctors, took the temperature of patients and measured their oxygen levels. Currently, at the health unit located at Subedarganj he is a vital part of NCR’S Covid-19 vaccination exercise.
“Besides cleaning hospital equipment and fittings, as well as overall cleanliness, I also make entries of new OPD patients in the register and help in medical and general store, besides dressing of patients, measuring blood pressure and ECG of patients and assisting doctors during an emergency by undertaking stitching, administering injections under sup sion,” explained Sharma, hails from Sultanpur but is rently residing in railway q ters in Subedarganj along his wife, Neelam, and two aged 13 and 7.
“I contracted Covid-19 v in November 2020 and ha remain in home isolatio recovered and immedia rejoined duties,” Sharma who barring the period o infection and a few day March-end, has not taken l from work since the outbre April 2020.
