- HT Correspondent :

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday asked officials to make negative RT-PCR (reverse transcriptionpolymerase chain reaction) report mandatory for all those entering Uttar Pradesh from such states that have a Covid positivity rate of more than 3%.

The rule must apply not only to those who travel by train, bus, or air, but also to those entering the state in private vehicles, the chief minister said at a Covid-19 review meeting.

Those who have received both doses of the vaccine could be exempted from this, he said.

He also announced that the positivity rate in UP was now 0.02%.

“The state should make negative the test report. UP needs to exercise extra caution considering that the Covid pandemic is within control in the state. The rule should apply not only to those who enter the state on trains, buses, or planes but also to those who are coming in private vehicles. And all entering the state must be thermal scanned,” he said.

He also said that now seven districts — Aligarh, Chitrakoot, Hathras, Kasganj, Mahoba, Shamli and Shravasti — did not have any active Covid-19 case.

No district reported fresh cases in double digits in the past 24 hours, he added.

A total of 47 districts did not report even a single fresh Covid case while 28 districts reported cases in single digits.

“All this indicates the Covid situation is getting better ,” he said. The chief minister said in the last 24 hours, a total of 2.54 lakh Covid tests were done and 56 people tested positive. While a total of 69 patients recovered, the positivity rate came down to 0.02% and the recovery rate 98.6%.He said that the Covid vaccination was going on well, but needed speeding up. So far, 4.3 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the state.
