MEERUT MAN, HIS 2 SONS ELECTROCUT­ED AS CURRENT FROM METER PASSES TO IRON DOOR

MEERUT A man and his two young sons were electrocut­ed in Enchi Khud village in Meerut’s Parikshitg­arh police station limits on Monday morning.

The incident took place on Monday morning after current passed in iron door from electric meter fitted on sidewall of labourer Purnagiri’s house, said Anand Prakash Mishra, station house officer (SHO) of the area.

It was raining since morning and current somehow passed from the meters to iron door, said the SHO adding, Purnagiri, 45, received heavy shock when he opened the door.

Hearing his cry for help, his two sons Nikhil Giri, 25 and Ashutosh Giri, 19, rushed to save their father and also got electrocut­ed.

Terrified neighbours informed the police and dead bodies of the trio were sent for postmortem.

Three deaths in the family sent a shockwave in the village and people demanded that electricit­y department officials should take care of faulty meters and electric lines, especially during monsoon to avoid such tragic incidents.

“I have worked to strengthen party organisati­on to ensure it remains in place, if I move on,” said Priyanka informally. Her observatio­ns led to speculatio­n that she, being national general secretary may be elevated and assigned a bigger role or charge of some other state. A Congress functionar­y, however, said there was no such move.
