Intensive RTPCR testing at Agra rly station
With the support of the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF), the health officials here have intensified RTPCR testing of passengers coming from Maharashtra and Kerala.
The new chief medical officer Dr AK Srivastava paid a surprise visit to Agra Cantt railway station on Wednesday night and issued instructions to health staff at the RTPCR test centre on the platform.
“Our teams stationed at Agra Cantt Railway station, the most prominent railway station of Agra, are conducting RTPCR tests of passengers arriving at the station. The idea is to check entry of anybody carrying infection. Now with enhanced cases in certain states, we have modified our strategy,” said the CMO.
“We are extra cautious during arrival of trains from states like Kerala and Maharashtra. Most down trains from these states arrive between 12 midnight to 10 AM next morning, so much of the task is to be conducted during night hours for which our staff needs support,” said Dr Srivastava.
“After discussion, railway authorities, besides GRP and RPF assured cooperation in making passengers stand in queue and maintaining order for RTPCR test.
We are allowing those coming with test report or vaccination report but we maintain data of such passengers.
Those coming without these will have to undergo RTPCR test at the railway station,” he said.
“We are not concerned with those not getting down at Agra as other states, including Delhi and Haryana, have their own set-up to have these passengers tested on arrival,” he said..
