Modi, the BJP MPS said that they want to convey to all those elements who view the Assammizor­am issue as a means of “spreading chaos in India that their shenanigan­s will not work”. The MPS further said in the memorandum that they would like to unequivoca­lly state that under the NDA government led by Modi “developmen­t work in the Northeast has been historic and unparallel­ed”. There were 16 MPS in the meeting with the prime minister, 12 from Assam, two from Arunachal Pradesh and one each from Manipur and Tripura.

Meanwhile, Mizoram governor Hari Babu Kambhampat­i on Monday said that Union home minister Amit Shah is trying to defuse the situation at the Assam-mizoram border and find a solution to the dispute.

Earlier in the day, he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the current border situation and how to diffuse the tensions between two states.

"It is an unfortunat­e incident. Union home minister Amit Shah is trying to defuse the situation and find a solution. Both the CMS (Assam and Mizoram) reiterated that peace will be restored," said Governor of Mizoram on border tension with Assam. According to people aware of the developmen­ts, he will meet home minister in the evening.
