Proposal to paint buildings along major Agra roads in off whit

A proposal has again been mooted to paint the buildings and shops along side major roads of the city in synchrony. The colour for building and shops would be off white/ cream colour while boards would be in coffee colour with alphabets in white. To begin with, structures along side Fatehabad Road and Mahatma Gandhi (MG) Road are proposed to be painted in this colour scheme.

Representatives of tourism related bodies and owners of commercial buildings were invited by the vice chairman of Agra Development Authority Dr Rajendra Painsiya to a meeting held on Thursday evening.

“There are instructions for to get the buildings, apartments, commercial complexes and shops along side Fatehabad Road and Mahatma Gandhi Road painted in off white colour. The boards, signage and other writings are to be painted in white with background in coffee colour,,” Painsiya said. ADA officials clarified that such painting was to be undertaken by owners of buildings and shops at their own cost. If they did not do so, the ADA would get the painting done and realize money from the owners of the structure alongside these two major roads.

There was a mixed response to the idea, as Ashok Arora of Sanjay Place Cloth Market Association suggested to include Sanjay Place Commercial Complex also in the scheme. Others gested include Sadar Bazar Shahjadi Mandi in the new our scheme. However Ra Chauhan, the president of H and Rstaurant Associa expressed problems face tourism industry prese because Covid -19 restrictio

“The hotel and tourism in try is in bad shape for the year with no arrival of for guests. The tourism industr lated establishments seek t months after the internati flights are restored to get s painting done,” Chauhan suggesting that the ADA c do a whole lot of things to at tourists to the city of Taj.

This not for the first time the idea of colour synchrony come up. The Yamuna Ki road was painted saffro mark 350 years of Taj Mah 2004-2005. In 2016, red s colour was painted on sh hotels etc. in Tajganj around Taj Mahal. In 2 shops and buildings along the road from Kheria Airpo eastern gate of Taj were pai in the same colour to welc the then US president Do Trump.
