India logs 39,070 fres infections, 491 deaths

With 39,070 people testing positive for coronavirus infection, India’s total tally of Covid-19 cases rose to 31,934,455, while the death toll climbed to 427,862 with 491 fresh fatalities, according to the Union health ministry data updated on Sunday.

The active cases have declined to 406,822 and comprise 1.27 per cent of the total infections and the national Covid-19 recovery rate has improved to 97.39 per cent, the data updated at 8 am showed.

A decrease of 5,331 cases has been recorded in the active Covid-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 31,0 99,771, while the case fatality rate stands at 1.34 per cent, the data stated.

Cumulatively 50.68 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive till Sunday morning. India’s Covid-19 tally had crossed the 2 million mark on August 7, 3 million on August 23, 4 million on September 5 and 5 million on September 16.It went past 6 million on September 28, 7 million on October 11, crossed 8 lion on October 29, 9 mil on November 20 and surpa the 10 million mark on Dec ber 19. India crossed the g milestone of 20 million on M and three crore on June 23.

Meanwhile, The national ital has so far recorded 1 mucormycosis (black fun cases, 686 of which were a as on August 5. The city has allocated a total of 51,540 via Amphotericin-b for the tr ment of the disease, out of w 42,960 vials “have been rece and distributed to hospitals, 8,080 vials are awaited”. “( Government of India has discontinued the allocation directed all State Governm to procure Amphoterici Injection from the manufac ers directly as per their req ment,” a statement said.
