‘We decided to keep the baby shower simple, traditional’

- Rishabh Suri

Actors have been known to go the extra mile while working on emotionally heavier parts. And Swara Bhasker is no exception. In an upcoming murder mystery, she’ll be essaying the part of an investigating officer chasing a serial killer. To get under the skin of her character, she interacted with a psychologist to understand what goes into a serial killer’s head and psyche.

Talking about the need to make characters believable for the audience, she says, ‘’I feel that it is extremely important to understand your role and get things right while dealing with such topics. At a time when the audience is extremely aware and wellread, it becomes all the more important for actors and those making content to take necessary steps in getting the portrayal on screen right.” She adds that though creative freedom is important, it’s her responsibility to get the nuances of a character right.

But this isn’t the first time that Bhasker has played such an intense character.

Recalling the parts she essayed in Anaarkali Of Aarah (2017) and Flesh (2020), she says, “Both were bitter and angry characters. The only thing I keep in mind while playing such characters is to get enough sleep.”so, how does she withdraw herself from the roles that emotionally drain her? “I participate in detox programmes once we finish shooting. Yoga that is focused on breathing, guided meditation or energy healing and taking a small vacation before the next shoot also helps. Of course, nothing is as healing as going home to my family and pets,” she shares.

The Sheer Qorma actor is glad to get back to the grind: “I’m happy to juggle all the commitments. The one thing pandemic has taught me is to be grateful for my work.”

Charu Asopa is in the seventh month of her pregnancy, and she’s excited while sharing about her journey so far. The actor had gone to her mother’s place in Bikaner, Rajasthan, for a few months, but it’s been a month now that she’s back in Mumbai for the delivery of her first child.

“It has been good so far. My mother and the entire family has come here. A lot of festivals are lined up, and I’m getting pampered a lot. I used to have nausea, but now my health is much better and my appetite has improved,” says the 33year-old, who had her baby shower on Sunday.

She tells us that her husband, actor Rajeev Sen, and everyone else in the family pitched in for the preparations. “We decided to keep it Indian and simple, because we’re in the pandemic times. We can’t have a large gathering of people, so just our family, didi (Sushmita Sen, sister-in-law and actor), the kids, and a few close friends,” she shares.

Considering the pandemic, the mother-to-be was naturally apprehensive about taking a trip back home to Mumbai. “When I came back to

Mumbai, I said this is it, I’m not going to travel after this. You face a lot of problems, as you can’t stand or sit for too long when pregnant. Now I’m just resting and eating,” she says.

However, this doesn’t mean that work has entirely stopped for her. She adds, “I’m working from home. I can’t just sit. I’ve always been an ambitious and work-oriented person. So, I’ve been doing a little bit of work, like collaborations.”
