- HT Correspondent :

Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav on Monday said people in Uttar Pradesh were looking for a change that, as per him, would be “historic” after the 2022 UP assembly polls.

He also ruled out alliance with big political parties and said his party would forge alliances with only small outfits. The former CM expressed these views while talking to reporters at the residence of one of his of his party workers in Agra. He was in the Taj city to meet the kin of party leaders and workers who passed away during the second wave of the Covid pandemic.

Targeting the state government on the farmers’ issue, Akhilesh said the nation would not forgive the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for “insulting” farmers. “Farmers provide us food. How can the BJP insult such farmers,” he asked claiming that his party had always stood with farmers.

“The BJP had promised to double the income of farmers but what was doubled was inflation with hollow promises to farmers,” SP chief alleged. During his visit, Akhilesh visited the houses of the late Shiv Kumar Rathore who had the status of a minister in the SP regime and former city unit chief Raisuddin besides others.

state government to save lives of innocent children. More than 50 people, mostly children, have died of fever in Firozabad district since August. Most of these deaths were due to dengue.

“We have seen the way in which patients were deprived of treatment during second Covid wave. The state government should not fail this time and save these children and other patients suffering from fever,” he said.
