U.P. GOVT PLANS TO PURCHASE MULTI-ROLE HELICOPTERS
LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government has planned to purchase multi-role helicopters to use them in tourism, policing, relief and rescue operations, etc.
Representatives of UK defence and security exports and Airbus Helicopters made a presentation before additional chief secretary, home, Awanish Kumar Awasthi, on Tuesday. Representatives of the British High Commission were also present. Awasthi sought proposals from Airbus representatives regarding the use of helicopters in tourism, policing, emergency medical services, advanced airborne solutions and law enforcement. In addition, instructions have also been given to make proposals regarding flood relief work, crowd control by police, disaster management, medical emergency, and for monitoring activities in Maoist areas, said a state government spokesperson.
Head of business development, Airbus Helicopter, Aditya Sharma, made a presentation on the utility of helicopters for emergency medical services, advanced airborne solutions, law enforcement and disaster management in the state.
The use of multi-role helicopters could be made for efficient policing, patrolling over expressways and assistance during disaster management. Helicopter operations will also help in economic growth, skill development and revenue generation. With the help of helicopters, it will be possible to transport medical teams and equipment to remote areas of the state. They can also be used to transport patients to trauma centres and hospitals
