BARMER: This time there will be shocking results in the elections, former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot said on Wednesday while lashing out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi calling him “arrogant”.

Gehlot said that the PM will not even realise when the government is gone.

Targeting the BJP over ‘Abki Baar 400 Par’ slogan, Gehlot said, “The BJP seems to be projecting the slogan of winning 400 seats as if they have secured a lifetime contract. It seems that they believe there will be no further election.”

He said, “The politics of religion does not work in a democracy, as it is governed by the Constitution. This time there will be shocking results. The public decides everything and makes it completely clear. Modi Ji is arrogant; he will not even realise when the government is gone.”

Gehlot was speaking during an election rally in Jaisalmer in support of Congress candidate Ummedaram Beniwal fighting from Barmer parliamentary seat. Congress leaders Harish Chaudhary, Saleh Mohammad and Ruparam Dhandev, were also present during the event.

Terming the electoral bond scheme as the biggest scam, Gehlot said, “Even Nirmala Sitharaman’s husband has said that the electoral bond scam is the biggest scam in the world.” Gehlot said: “The BJP has become a ‘washing machine’, which, after labelling Congress members as corrupt and instilling fear of the ED and CBI, ‘cleans them up’ when they join the BJP.”

Attacking the BJP-led Rajasthan government, he said, “Within three months, the condition of the government in Rajasthan has deteriorated.

Now, people remember us and our works.”

Gehlot said, “We gave everything to the public, but the public rejected us.” The Congress leader however said, “The public has made up its mind, and this time there will be shocking results.”Gehlot also addressed an election rally in support of INDIA bloc candidate Hanuman Beniwal. Targeting Beniwal’s opponent and BJP candidate Jyoti Mirdha, Gehlot said: “She should know that her decision to join the BJP was wrong.Jyoti Mirdha should have demanded her right from the Congress, but the whole family went into the BJP.”

Responding to Gehlot’s remarks, BJP leader Rakesh Sharma said: “It seems there may be a misinterpretation or inconsistency in Gehlot’s statements. On one hand, Gehlot is expressing concern about the state of democracy, suggesting it is in danger. On the other hand, he is claiming that the people have made up their minds, which will lead to surprising results.”

Sharma questioned how both things are possible simultaneously.

Sharma said, “I suggest to Gehlotji that instead of making false and baseless statement, let the public decide whom they are going to vote fore. The BJP is claiming ‘Abki Baar 400 Paar’ because people have faith in Modiji and in his vision.” Later,

BHARATPUR: The people should vote for the Congress if they want to improve the mistakes done during the Rajasthan assembly elections, said Tonk MLA Sachin Pilot taking a dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party-ruled state government.

“Rajasthan allocated all 25 Lok Sabha seats to the BJP in the past two elections, yet there is a sentiment that not all the BJP MPs delivered significant results,” the Congress leader said.

“Assessing the impact of BJP’s governance on the country’s development should be a crucial aspect for voters to consider while voting in the upcoming elections,” Pilot said in Dholpur on Wednesday while addressing a meeting in favour of Congress candidate from Karauli- Dholpur Lok Sabha seat Bhajan Lal Jatav.

“I want to appeal to people that support Congress in the Lok Sabha election if you want to improve your mistakes of the assembly election.”

“The BJP government has been misusing (central) government agencies while the Congress never did any such thing,” he said.

“I can see the change in the sentiment in the state and the country where people want to change (their vote) in favour of the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections,” he said.

Hitting out at Pilot for his central agencies’ remark, Dholpur BJP district president Satendra Parasar said: “The government agencies only take action against the accused”.
