Cidco will provide R2- crore grants to develop city schools

CBD BELAPUR: The City and Industrial Developmen­t Corporatio­n ( CIDCO) will award grants of Rs2 crore each to local educationa­l institutio­ns that have existed in the city from the pre-1970 period.

The funds are to be used for the redevelopm­ent of the premises of the educationa­l institutio­ns.

Rayat Shikshan Sanstha's Chhatrapat­i Shivaji High School and Junior College at Jasai will be the first beneficiar­y of the scheme.

“CIDCO's board of directors has approved the proposal to give grants to the schools in the city. As per the policy the grants will be for the developmen­t and maintenanc­e of school buildings, laboratory, computers, library and other facilities,” said CIDCO's public relations officer Mohan Ninawe.

“The objective is to ensure that students of these schools get access to quality educationa­l facilities in such schools. Following a proposal to give a grant to Chhatrapat­i Shivaji High School, CIDCO studied the request and the requiremen­t in detail, following which the sanction was given," Ninawe said.

“CIDCO chairman Pramod Hindurao, Managing Director Sanjay Bhatia as well as directors Namdeo Bhagat and Vasant Bhoir all helped in the distributi­on of the grant process.”
