RABALE: City residents are facing a hard time registering complaints with the Rabale police as the telephone lines at the police station have been disconnected since two weeks due to the non-payment of bills.

When contacted, deputy police commissioner Ashok Morale, said, “I am not aware about any such issue at the Rabale police station. However, we will try to activate the telephone lines at the earliest.”

The Rabale police station has several sensitive areas, including Airoli, under its jurisdiction, where anti-social elements are vastly active.

Several high-profile crimes, including a police official and politician’s murders, have taken place in the jurisdiction of the Rabale police.

Further, many criminal activities take place in the nearby areas daily.

Now, due to the non-functioning phones, distressed residents find it difficult to inform police about such illegal activities.

Although, landline number 27606162 is operational at the station, police personnel cannot answer the phone as it is placed inside the cabin of the senior police inspector.

Police personnel claim that the issue is hampering their dayto- day functioning.

Previously, telephone lines at Turbhe and Kopar Khairane police stations too were nonfunctional.
