Shoot city’s beauty, win prizes, get featured in NMMC calendar

CBD BELAPUR: Here is a chance for photograph­ers in the city to showcase their work. For the sixth consecutiv­e year, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporatio­n (NMMC) is organising the photograph­y competitio­n Pratima Navi Mumbai chi (Image of Navi Mumbai) for profession­al and amateur photograph­ers.

Apart from winning cash prizes and mementos, selected entries of photograph­ers will also be featured in the annual calendar published by the civic body.

The competitio­n has been divided into two categories profession­al and amateur - and is open only to residents of Navi Mumbai. There is no entry fee for participat­ing in the competitio­n and photograph­s captured within the city, (from Digha to CBD Belapur) will be accepted as entries. Last date for submission of photograph­s is December 7.

According to NMMC deputy municipal commission­er and public relations officer Jagannath Sinnarkar, “Navi Mumbai, which has been declared the third cleanest city in the country and is competing for the smart city project, offers great opportunit­ies for photograph­ers. We have visual treats such as mountains and creeks.”

“We intend to showcase the beauty of the city captured by the city’s many profession­al and amateur photograph­ers,” said Sinnarkar.

“This is an excellent opportunit­y for photograph­ers to showcase their talent. The 12 best photograph­s will be featured in the NMMC calendar of 2016,” said sports and culture committee chairman Prakash More.

“The photograph­s should capture the best of Navi Mumbai, promote its value and culture and indicate its progress from a modern city to a smart city.

A maximum of five entries will be accepted. The photograph­s should be of 8” x 12” in matt finish and should be submitted with an applicatio­n,” said More.

For the profession­al category, there are eight prizes of Rs20,000 each and there are four prizes worth Rs10,000 each for the amateur category. Both category winners will also get mementos.
