Shoot city’s beauty, win prizes, get fea­tured in NMMC cal­en­dar

CBD BE­LA­PUR: Here is a chance for pho­tog­ra­phers in the city to show­case their work. For the sixth con­sec­u­tive year, Navi Mum­bai Mu­nic­i­pal Cor­po­ra­tion (NMMC) is or­gan­is­ing the pho­tog­ra­phy com­pe­ti­tion Pra­tima Navi Mum­bai chi (Im­age of Navi Mum­bai) for pro­fes­sional and ama­teur pho­tog­ra­phers.

Apart from win­ning cash prizes and me­men­tos, se­lected en­tries of pho­tog­ra­phers will also be fea­tured in the an­nual cal­en­dar pub­lished by the civic body.

The com­pe­ti­tion has been di­vided into two cat­e­gories pro­fes­sional and ama­teur - and is open only to res­i­dents of Navi Mum­bai. There is no en­try fee for par­tic­i­pat­ing in the com­pe­ti­tion and pho­to­graphs cap­tured within the city, (from Digha to CBD Be­la­pur) will be ac­cepted as en­tries. Last date for sub­mis­sion of pho­to­graphs is De­cem­ber 7.

Ac­cord­ing to NMMC deputy mu­nic­i­pal com­mis­sioner and pub­lic re­la­tions of­fi­cer Ja­gan­nath Sin­narkar, “Navi Mum­bai, which has been de­clared the third clean­est city in the coun­try and is com­pet­ing for the smart city project, of­fers great op­por­tu­ni­ties for pho­tog­ra­phers. We have vis­ual treats such as moun­tains and creeks.”

“We in­tend to show­case the beauty of the city cap­tured by the city’s many pro­fes­sional and ama­teur pho­tog­ra­phers,” said Sin­narkar.

“This is an ex­cel­lent op­por­tu­nity for pho­tog­ra­phers to show­case their tal­ent. The 12 best pho­to­graphs will be fea­tured in the NMMC cal­en­dar of 2016,” said sports and cul­ture com­mit­tee chair­man Prakash More.

“The pho­to­graphs should cap­ture the best of Navi Mum­bai, pro­mote its value and cul­ture and in­di­cate its progress from a mod­ern city to a smart city.

A max­i­mum of five en­tries will be ac­cepted. The pho­to­graphs should be of 8” x 12” in matt fin­ish and should be sub­mit­ted with an ap­pli­ca­tion,” said More.

For the pro­fes­sional cat­e­gory, there are eight prizes of Rs20,000 each and there are four prizes worth Rs10,000 each for the ama­teur cat­e­gory. Both cat­e­gory win­ners will also get me­men­tos.
