Fr Agnels’ team makes gold-winning splash at YMCA swimming meet

VASHI: Swimmers from the Fr. Agnels’ Sports Centre participat­ed and bagged honours at the 38th Bombay YMCA Swimming Competitio­n held at the Bombay YMCA in Agripada this week. The event saw participat­ion from over 150 schools from Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.

Shruti Pusalkar from Fr Agnels’ swam in the girls under-17 and won two gold and one silver medals. She also won the individual championsh­ip trophy for her performanc­e.

Others from Fr Agnels’ school were Siddhi Vanmali (under-17) who won one gold and two silver medals. Arya Kripalani from Class 6, also from Agnels’, won a silver in the 100m breaststro­ke.

According to the coach, Shiv Chhatrapat­i awardee Gokul Kamath, “The results we have got are very good and we are proud of our kids. Their dedication has paid off and we are confident that they will do even better in bigger events soon.”

Coach Amit Awale said, “The children put in several hours of

practice to achieve the results. We have some great talent in Navi Mumbai and we are doing our best to ensure that they get the right platforms.”
