Fr Agnels’ team makes gold-win­ning splash at YMCA swim­ming meet

VASHI: Swim­mers from the Fr. Agnels’ Sports Cen­tre par­tic­i­pated and bagged hon­ours at the 38th Bom­bay YMCA Swim­ming Com­pe­ti­tion held at the Bom­bay YMCA in Agripada this week. The event saw par­tic­i­pa­tion from over 150 schools from Mum­bai and Navi Mum­bai.

Shruti Pusalkar from Fr Agnels’ swam in the girls un­der-17 and won two gold and one sil­ver medals. She also won the in­di­vid­ual cham­pi­onship tro­phy for her per­for­mance.

Oth­ers from Fr Agnels’ school were Sid­dhi Van­mali (un­der-17) who won one gold and two sil­ver medals. Arya Kri­palani from Class 6, also from Agnels’, won a sil­ver in the 100m breast­stroke.

Ac­cord­ing to the coach, Shiv Ch­ha­tra­p­ati awardee Gokul Ka­math, “The re­sults we have got are very good and we are proud of our kids. Their ded­i­ca­tion has paid off and we are con­fi­dent that they will do even bet­ter in big­ger events soon.”

Coach Amit Awale said, “The chil­dren put in sev­eral hours of

prac­tice to achieve the re­sults. We have some great tal­ent in Navi Mum­bai and we are do­ing our best to en­sure that they get the right plat­forms.”
