Police arrest two for raping 5-yr- old
Two people from Kopar Khairane were arrested on Friday for allegedly raping a five- year- old girl.
According to the police, the two accused live in the same building as the girl.
The first accused Samsuddin Kazi, 65, sexually assaulted the girl in July. Finding her alone in the building one day, he raped her.
However, the girl did not tell it to anyone as she was too scared.
The second accused, Mansur Kazi, 33, committed the same crime on Wednesday. He sexually assaulted the minor.
He told the girl not to reveal the incident to anyone else and threatened her with dire consequences if she did.
“This time, however, the girl mustered courage and t old her mother about t he incident. The mother immediately filed a complaint,” said Satish Gaikwad, senior police inspector of Kopar Khairane police station.
When t he mother asked the girl whether she had been assaulted earlier, the mother was in for a shock.
“The mother then asked if she was assaulted by anyone else earlier. It was only then she told her about the incident that took place in July,” he said.
The mother then approached the police and registered an FIR.
Following the FIR registered by the girl’s mother, the police arrested both the accused on Friday.
T hey have been booked under section 376 (punishment for rape) and 506 ( punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code ( IPC) and section 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
They were produced before the judicial court on Saturday and have been remanded in police custody for three days.
The police are also investigating if the two arrested men have any past record of similar crimes.
“We are trying to find out if the accused had assaulted other children in the building. So far, we have not found any criminal record against them,” said another police officer.
