This time we have invited actor Boman Irani for creating awareness about road safety among the city residents,” said a senior officer from the traffic department.
The traffic department has planned events such as bike and car rallies, street plays, seminars and demonstrations at schools and colleges for the road safety week, which will continue till January 23. Medical camps for the drivers have also been planned.
“We will distribute T-shirts to police ‘mitras’ and reflective jackets to traffic officials at the event,” said Shirish Pawar, inspector (traffic), Vashi division.
Arvind Salve, deputy commissioner of police (traffic), said, “The police and traffic department are taking all possible steps to reduce the number of road accidents in the city. All trafficrelated problems can be avoided if commuters follow traffic rules.”
