NAVI MUMBAI: A resident of Kamothe, who allegedly sexually exploited a 40-year-old woman for over two years and extorted around Rs4 lakh from her, has been booked by the police.

However, the police have not been able to make any arrest so far.

The accused worked as trainer with a gym at Kamothe which was frequented by the woman. He later developed friendship with her and started visiting her house to train her.

“One day, finding her alone at home, the accused forced himself on her and also made a video clip of the incident. After that, he started asking her for money, threatening to upload that video on the Internet,” said Chandrasekhar Bhoir, assistant police inspector from Kamothe police station.

“The accused allegedly sexually exploited the victim on several occasions and also extorted cash and jewellery worth Rs4 lakh between 2011 and 2013,” he said.

He approached her again a few weeks ago asking for money. The woman, who now runs her own business at Belapur, then approached us and registered an FIR.

The police have booked the accused under sections 376 (punishment for rape), 500 (punishment for defamation), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 67 of the IT Act.

“We are searching for the accused, but have not been able to arrest him so far. We have learnt that he is somewhere out of the state. We are following certain leads and we hope to arrest him soon,” Bhoir.

When asked if the accused exploited other women using the same modus operandi, another police officer said, “So far, no other woman has come with complaints against him. However, we are exploring that angle too.”
