Kamothe res­i­dent black­mailed woman, ex­torted `4L from her

NAVI MUM­BAI: A res­i­dent of Kamothe, who al­legedly sex­u­ally ex­ploited a 40-year-old woman for over two years and ex­torted around Rs4 lakh from her, has been booked by the po­lice.

How­ever, the po­lice have not been able to make any ar­rest so far.

The ac­cused worked as trainer with a gym at Kamothe which was fre­quented by the woman. He later de­vel­oped friend­ship with her and started vis­it­ing her house to train her.

“One day, find­ing her alone at home, the ac­cused forced him­self on her and also made a video clip of the in­ci­dent. Af­ter that, he started ask­ing her for money, threat­en­ing to up­load that video on the In­ter­net,” said Chan­drasekhar Bhoir, as­sis­tant po­lice in­spec­tor from Kamothe po­lice sta­tion.

“The ac­cused al­legedly sex­u­ally ex­ploited the vic­tim on sev­eral oc­ca­sions and also ex­torted cash and jew­ellery worth Rs4 lakh be­tween 2011 and 2013,” he said.

He ap­proached her again a few weeks ago ask­ing for money. The woman, who now runs her own busi­ness at Belapur, then ap­proached us and reg­is­tered an FIR.

The po­lice have booked the ac­cused un­der sec­tions 376 (pun­ish­ment for rape), 500 (pun­ish­ment for defama­tion), 506 (pun­ish­ment for crim­i­nal in­tim­i­da­tion) of the In­dian Pe­nal Code (IPC) and sec­tion 67 of the IT Act.

“We are search­ing for the ac­cused, but have not been able to ar­rest him so far. We have learnt that he is some­where out of the state. We are fol­low­ing cer­tain leads and we hope to ar­rest him soon,” Bhoir.

When asked if the ac­cused ex­ploited other women us­ing the same modus operandi, an­other po­lice of­fi­cer said, “So far, no other woman has come with com­plaints against him. How­ever, we are ex­plor­ing that an­gle too.”

The ac­cused, who worked as trainer at a gym in Kamothe, is yet to be ar­rested. The woman used to go to the gym where he worked.
