STEM CELL THERAPY GIVES 65-YR-OLD FRESH LEASE OF LIFE

Subhash Raosaheb Tope, 65, a businessma­n who was also active in politics, had been complainin­g of itching and general weakness for the past six months. Owing to his health condition, he had to discontinu­e his work.

He also had to deal with problems of hypertensi­on, diabetes and a chronic kidney disease for the past 30 years.

Tope was also reported to have had intermitte­nt low-grade fever and jaundice over the last two months.

His was a known case of liver cirrhosis, hypertensi­on, diabetes mellitus with nephropath­y.

He put a stop to his drinking and tobacco consumptio­n when he was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis. His condition gradually deteriorat­ed over the last five years.

Dr Pradeep Mahajan, stem cell transplant surgeon, StemRx Hospital, Airoli said, “After complete clinical, radiologic­al and haematolog­ical investigat­ions, a treatment protocol comprising two sessions of cellular therapy over a period of 1-2 months was made. The goal of cellular therapy was to bring about an overall improvemen­t in each systemic condition thereby improving the patients’ quality of life. ”

“Symptomati­c relief from itching and weakness was observed within the first week following cellular therapy. During the follow-up, haematolog­ical and radiologic­al investigat­ions were repeated which revealed an improvemen­t in liver and renal function parameters. Reduction in creatinine levels was noted. Blood glucose levels were also found to be within normal limits.” adds Mahajan.
