4 more booked for selling flats in illegal buildings at Digha

NAVI MUMBAI: The police have booked four more people on Friday for allegedly selling flats in illegally constructe­d buildings in Digha.

The suspects, Dipak More, Prakash Ture, Moreshwar Ture and Ganesh Ture, allegedly prepared fake documents for registerin­g a few flats in Trimuriti and Saidhan apartments and sold them.

The buildings were illegally constructe­d on MIDC land.

Following two complaints received from the victims the police registered the cases against the suspects.

All of them are real estate agents.

So far, the police have registered 54 cases and arrested over 20 people, most of them real estate agents, who helped in making fake documents for the registrati­on of flats.

The Bombay high cour t directed demolition action against a total of 99 buildings which were constructe­d illegally on Cidco and MIDC land in Digha.

The high court, following a PIL filed by an activist Rajiv Mishra had asked MIDC and Cidco to demolish the constructi­ons.

Both Cidco and MIDC have

been carrying out a demolition drive following the directions of the high court. MIDC and Cidco had begun a crackdown on 99 unauthoris­ed buildings in Digha after the Bombay high court directed the corporatio­n to remove all such structures.

Even the Bombay high court had asked Navi Mumbai police to investigat­e the role of officials from different agencies in the illegal structures case.

In most of the cases, Rabale police had registered a cheat- ing and forgery case under sections 420, 120 (B) and 406, along with, other relevant sections of the India Penal Code.
