Il­le­gal liquor racket busted at Taloja, two ar­rested

Taloja po­lice have seized fake liquor worth Rs 2.64 lakh from a flat in their area on Wed­nes­day. Two per­sons in­volved in the il­le­gal busi­ness have also been ar­rested.

The po­lice had re­ceived a tip- off that some peo­ple were man­u­fac­tur­ing fake liquor in that flat at Heena Heights.

They raided the flat soon af­ter and made the ar­rests. The ar­rested peo­ple have been iden­ti­fied as Balaji Rawria, 26, and Ramesh Man­odra, 22, res­i­dents of the same area.

“The sus­pects would pur­chase cheap liquor from the wine shops and mixed them with wa­ter. They would also pur­chase empty bot­tles of branded liquor from scrap deal­ers. Later they would filled those bot­tles with the liquor pre­pared by them and sell those at some other places,” said a po­lice of­fi­cer from Taloja po­lice sta­tion.

The po­lice are now in­ves­ti­ga­tion to find out other peo­ple in­volved in the crime. “Such a busi­ness can­not be run by just two per­sons. So we are try­ing to find out the other peo­ple in­volved in in. Some scrap deal­ers might also be in­volved in it,”

The po­lice have booked the ac­cused un­der sec­tions 420, 511, and 43 of the In­dian Pe­nal Code (IPC). They were pro­duced be­fore the ju­di­cial court on Thurs­day af­ter­noon.

A month ago, the Taloja po­lice ar­rested two per­sons who were mak­ing and sell­ing fake liquor us­ing the same modus operandi. Liquor worth Rs1.5 lakh and thou­sands of empty bot­tles were seized from them.
