Gold jew­ellery worth ` 3 lakh stolen from flat

The Khan­desh­war po­lice have reg­is­tered a case af­ter some uniden­ti­fied peo­ple broke into a flat and stole gold jew­ellery worth Rs2.97 lakh on Wed­nes­day.

Ac­cord­ing to t he po­lice, the com­plainant, Anil Ku­mar Ra­mak­is­han, 46, lives with his fam­ily at Man­gal­murti Com­plex at Sec­tor 6.

He and his fam­ily went out of town for some work for three days. Re­turn­ing home on Wed­nes­day, they re­alised the theft and in­formed the lo­cal po­lice. How­ever, the po­lice have not been able to make any break­through till now.

“We have reg­is­tered a case un­der sec­tions 454, 457 and 380 of the In­dian Pe­nal Code against the uniden­ti­fied cul­prits. We are also in­ter­ro­gat­ing some peo­ple based on sus­pi­cion but have not ar­rested any­one so far. We hope to solve the case soon,” said a po­lice of­fi­cer from Khadehswar po­lice sta­tion.

“More and more res­i­dents are fall­ing prey to bur­glars and rob­bers in the city in re­cent times. Chain snatch­ing cases are also be­ing re­ported al­most ev­ery day. We are do­ing our best to re­duce the num­ber of such crimes in the city, but it is not pos­si­ble with­out proper co­op­er­a­tion of the res­i­dents.

We there­fore ap­peal to the city res­i­dents to fol­low the given guide­lines and co­op­er­ate with us to make Navi Mum­bai a bet­ter place to live in,” said Dilip Sawant, deputy com­mis­sioner of po­lice (crime).
