PRESIDENT’S MEDAL FOR THREE COPS

Three officers of Navi Mumbai police were on Tuesday presented t he President’s police medal for gallantry, distinguis­hed and meritoriou­s service. The medals were presented by governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao at an investitur­e ceremony held at Raj Bhavan.

The awards had been announced for the officers in the year 2003 for excellent service track record.

Those who have been presented the medals are assistant commission­er of police (crime) Rajendra Bhamre, assistant commission­er of police (Vashi) Arun Walture and assistant police subinspect­or Santoshgir Gosavi.

Walture said, “It is indeed an honour to have received the medal which every policeman wants. It is a recognitio­n of years of dedication and efforts put in by us.”

He said, “I accept the medal with all humility and thank my seniors and the public at large for the cooperatio­n extended by them.”

Walture added, “Such recognitio­n encourages and motivates one to contribute even more to the force and engross oneself in the service of the people.”
