CBD BELAPUR: The opposition Shiv Sena and BJP corporators have condemned the actions of NMMC secretary Chitra Baviskar during the general body meeting on Thursday, claiming that she is acting on the behest of the ruling NCP.

The opposition has demanded that she be transferred from her posting with immediate effect. The opposition has long objected to Baviskar’s posting claiming she is ineligible for the post.

The opposition was upset over a resolution on nomination of a member on the Tree Authority. Baviskar announced that she was withdrawing the resolution.

The opposition raised objections on the issue claiming they did not know about it. Opposition leader Vijay Chougule said, “We had given seven nominations for the post. On what basis was the resolution brought?”

Shiv Sena corporator Namdeo Bhagat said: “Why was no one other than NCP spokesperson Jayaji Nath informed about it?”

He added, “Her actions are all dictated by the ruling party.”

Corporator MK Madhvi said: “The secretary is not capable for the job. She should be immediately transferred from her job.”

BJP group leader Ramchandra Gharat said, “Why are the specified norms and rules not followed by her? It is so obvious who she is supporting always.”

Baviskar refused to comment. She has consistently denied the allegations of the opposition claiming she acts as per the norms in an unbiased manner.
